Prince George’s County gives update on Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department building

BELTSVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department said that career staff would be assigned to the Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department’s building in an update Thursday.

The department gave the update as a news release posted on the platform X, saying that the career staff would be signed once the assessment and construction wrap up.

The release also said that the Office of the Fire Chief was working to establish a “Beltsville Fire Station Renovation Committee.” It said that this committee will include “subject matter experts, career and volunteer members, and community representatives.”

Officials said that they were working on solidifying plans for a community meeting in February and that the date would be released later.

The Beltsville Volunteer Fire Department shared a post to its Facebook page early Thursday morning that included a letter from attorneys with the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association. The letter outlined problems and concerns that the association had.
