Prince Harry Just Gave a Special Shoutout to Greta Thunberg at the OnSide Awards
Prince Harry stepped out solo on Sunday night for the OnSide Awards at the Royal Albert Hall.
The Duke of Sussex gave an emotive speech at the event to around 2,500 young people.
The royal presented the OnSide Health and Wellbeing Award.
Prince Harry was in London on Sunday night for the inaugural OnSide Awards at the Royal Albert Hall. A source tells BAZAAR.com that this is Harry's final engagement before he takes a break from official royal activities and enjoys the festive season with his wife and son.
The duke took to the stage at the OnSide Awards to deliver an inspiring speech to the crowd, which saw over 2,500 young people travel from all over the United Kingdom for the event. The awards recognize the achievements of those who have been helping their local communities, have been working on their own talents, and have struggled to overcome challenging circumstances.
Harry even gave a special mention to climate change activist Greta Thunberg in his speech, noting the immense influence she's had in the world. He said:
OnSide is an organization that’s still young, but as everybody here knows, you should never underestimate the power and influence of youth.
When Greta started her climate change protest she was just 15 years old—one voice, with just one placard, sitting on her own outside the Swedish parliament. Many people (actually, I should say, many adults) dismissed her. Yet today, millions upon millions of young people have joined her fight.
She may have been just one person at the beginning, but she had a belief, a mission, and a desire to do something not just for herself but for everyone, and now—the whole world is paying attention.
Whatever your dream—every country, every community, every school, every friendship group, every family needs their own Greta—someone who can lead the way, someone who is prepared to stand up for what they believe, and show how much they care for the people in their lives and the community around them.
The prince also adorably posed with award recipients backstage, and gave out the Onside Health and Wellbeing award onstage. It was the perfect final engagement for the Duke of Sussex before he goes on Christmas break.
