Prince Harry has revealed he cut out bombshells from his book which King Charles and Prince William would not “ever forgive” him for.

In a new interview, the Duke of Sussex said he had enough material for a second book after holding back a number of revelations.

He told The Telegraph: “The first draft was different. It was 800 pages, and now it’s down to 400 pages. It could have been two books, put it that way. And the hard bit was taking things out.”

“There are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don’t want the world to know. Because I don’t think they would ever forgive me.”

Harry’s fraught relationship with the King and Prince William is exposed in Spare, which has become the fastest selling non fiction book in history, while a poll has found Harry’s popularity has dropped since its publication.

Prince Harry has revealed that he has enough material to fill another book after cutting stories from his memoir that he believes the King and Prince William would not ever forgive him for if made public.

He said Spare, his ghostwritten tell-all which made an enormous splash when it was published worldwide this week, was 800 pages long at first draft before he cut it down by half for publication.

He admitted to difficulty in deciding which stories to cut from the book, which included revelations of rows with his brother and urging his father not to marry Camilla, Queen Consort.

Dickie Arbiter, 82, who was assistant press secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth, has claimed a passage in the Duke of Sussex’s book has been misattributed to him.

Though Arbiter is not named in the book, he says a quote in the book could be interpreted as if it was him, and he would like the publisher to apologise.

In Spare, Prince Harry discusses an article published by the Daily Mail in 2020, in which a group of royal commentations, the “Fleet Street jury” shared their opinions on Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from royal duties.

He went on to note how his therapist urged him to reflect on what he remembered about his mother, including “bedtimes in Kensington Palace,” when he’d go from “inhaling her perfume” to then “lying in bed”.

They say speaking out about what he has gone through, the Duke of Sussex is “validating” his feelings.

The prince writes in his newly published memoir, Spare, that he killed 25 Taliban fighters while serving as a soldier in Afghanistan – but in interviews has denied “boasting” about it, saying that was “very dangerous spin”.

Harry’s military comrades said they were dismayed at his “unnecessary” claim, arguing it made him a much greater security risk, and also put his family in danger.

But the prince hit back in an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the US, saying he hoped talking about it would help other army veterans, and especially help prevent suicides.

During an ITV interview that aired on Sunday, Prince Harry denied accusing the royal family of racism in his Oprah interview in March 2021, after Meghan revealed an unnamed family member raised concerns about how dark their unborn son Archie’s skin would be.

“No I didn’t... the British press said that... did Meghan ever mention that they’re racist? There was concern about his skin colour,” the duke told interviewer Tom Bradby. When Bradby asked: “Wouldn’t you describe that as essentially racist?” Harry replied: “I wouldn’t, not having lived within that family.”

Now that Spare by Prince Harry has been leaked, spun, translated to and from Spanish, and commanded at least four “exclusive” TV interviews with the renegade royal – and now that it has been officially published across print and digital media worldwide, reported, and digested – it’s clear who comes off worst. Harry May, 21, has pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to throwing an egg toward the King during a walkabout in Luton in December.

Kate Middleton has claimed that talking therapy doesn’t work for everyone, just two days after Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, was released.

The Princess of Wales commented that conventional types of therapy may not be beneficial to all in her first royal engagement since the Duke of Sussex’s tell-all memoir arrived in bookshops.

In it, Harry references his own therapy sessions, uses psychotherapy language including “trauma” and details his experiences with PTSI (Post Traumatic Stress Injury). Harry even thanks therapists who helped him in the book’s acknowledgements.

In his new memoir Spare, Prince Harry explores his own experience with panic attacks. He describes still having to attend events and even speak at them, much to his dismay. Back then, anxiety was rarely discussed – and certainly not among members of the royal family.

Even just a few years ago, people didn’t discuss mental health issues as much as they do now. While anxiety has become almost a buzzword over the last couple years, with nervousness of all levels being referred to as the disorder, it wasn’t always this way.

I used to talk about my panic attacks in whispers and with a rose-colored face, like calling my mental illness by name, out loud, would cause people to see me in a different light. But I was the same person I’d always been. I just had a name for my ever-so-often inability to breathe - and it didn’t mean a trip to the emergency room.

I’m glad society is at a point now where words like “anxiety disorder” and “panic attack” can be used without needing to blush or make excuses. They’re nothing to be ashamed of. And whether you’re a royal prince or just an everyday American like me, you deserve care and support.

Prince Harry’s memoir and the continuous toxicity of the royal family rupture is “not just a celebrity knockabout story” and “the status of a significant institution of state” is ultimately at stake, a biographer of King Charles has said.

The saga could “mark the beginning of the end of the monarchy”, Catherine Mayer said, warning that this peril is exacerbated by the “layers of secrecy and obfuscation” surrounding the royals.

“The monarchy is supposed to present an idealised version of family and instead is projecting extreme dysfunction,” the Heart of a King author told The Independent, also pointing to the scandal surrounding Prince Andrew.

The arrival of Meghan Markle had initially helped the royals perform this role, galvanising “support from demographics who had never seen themselves in any way reflected by the royals” suggested Ms Mayer, who is also co-founder of the Women’s Equality Party.

But the failure of that project “has instead turned them into opponents of the monarchy”, she said.

Susan Walsh, marketing manager at Dubray bookstores, said: “The new book by Prince Harry is performing very strongly in Dubray this week.

Prince Harry and Meghan are now less popular than disgraced royal Prince Andrew among over-65s after making bombshell revelations in Spare, a new poll has found.

A fresh survey by YouGov found that 73 per cent of over-65s in Britain have a “very” negative view of Harry. Some 69 per cent had the same view of the Duchess.

This compares with 60 per cent for Prince Andrew, who was stripped of his military titles and patronages in January over allegations of sexual assault, which he denies.

Prince Harry’s controversial memoir, Spare, was put on display beside a novel titled, How to Kill Your Family, reports my colleague Mary-Kate Findon.

Bert’s Books in Swindon went viral after they shared a picture of their “cheeky” display on Twitter.

Owner Alex Call told Sky News that Bella Mackie’s book was already in their window as it was their top seller of 2022.

“We thought it would be quite funny to put it next to Spare and would be quite light-hearted and make a few people smile,” he said.

Prince William and the Princess of Wales have been making their first public appearances today since the publication of Spare.

Following a visit to the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital, the couple travelled to the Open Door Charity in nearby Birkenhead, an organisation supporting the mental health of young adults across Merseyside using culture and creativity.

They ignored a Harry-related question shouted by the media as they arrived and William did not acknowledge a question asked by a broadcaster as the couple made their way to their chauffeur-driven car after the visit, which asked: “Your Royal Highness, have you had a chance to read your brother's book?”

Prince Harry has revealed the sentimental charms he wears on the necklace that his brother Prince William allegedly broke during a 2019 physical altercation between the siblings.

In his memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex claimed that his older brother once allegedly attacked him during an argument over Meghan Markle.

“It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor,” Harry wrote in the memoir, which was released Tuesday 10 January.

The royal was asked about the necklace in question during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night, with the royal revealing that the jewellery has since been fixed.

In his new memoir, Spare, which came out on 10 January, the Duke of Sussex expressed his feeling of grief after his mother died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, at the age of 36. Harry was 12 years old at the time of Diana’s death.

He went on to note how his therapist urged him to reflect on what he remembered about his mother, including “bedtimes in Kensington Palace,” when he’d go from “inhaling her perfume” to then “lying in bed”.

“We’re breaking through,” Harry’s therapist told him. “Let’s not stop there.”

Unplanned leaks last week gave us an early insight into what would be discussed, but the book can now be read as a whole, Roison O’Connor writes.

Ghostwritten by JR Moehringer, the book is a timeline of sorts; it charts Harry’s younger years, including his memories of his late mother, Diana, along with his struggles dealing with press intrusion, dating while in the public eye, and his years serving in Afghanistan.

TK Maxx denied Prince Harry’s claim about shopping at the retailer during its yearly sales, which he mentioned in his new memoir, Spare.

In his book, which was released on 10 January, the Duke of Sussex reflected on buying from TK Maxx during their “once-a-year sale”. However, TK Maxx has now responded to the royal’s claim, noting that its stores don’t “do sales”.

TK Maxx denied Prince Harry’s claim about shopping at the retailer during its yearly sales, which he mentioned in his new memoir, Spare.

In his book, which was released on 10 January, the Duke of Sussex reflected on buying from TK Maxx during their “once-a-year sale”. However, TK Maxx has now responded to the royal’s claim, noting that its stores don’t “do sales”.

“Whilst we’re delighted Prince Harry is a big fan, we thought we should explain we don’t actually do sales,” a spokesperson for the brand told Express. “Instead, we offer great value, style, and savings all year round.”

The response from TK Maxx - which is known as TJ Maxx in the US - comes after Harry made claims about how much he loves buying his daily attire from the department store.

Tailor says he did not see Kate and Meghan argue ahead of royal wedding

The tailor who fixed the bridesmaid dresses that sparked a row between the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex ahead of the royal wedding has said he did not witness any argument between the two women.

Ajay Mirpuri, who runs Mirpuri Bespoke tailors in London’s West End, was called in by Meghan and the Duke of Sussex four days before their May 2018 nuptials to mend six ill-fitting Givenchy dresses.

Initial reports had suggested Kate was in tears over the incident, but Harry’s account in his memoir Spare says it was Meghan who was left “sobbing on the floor”.

Mr Mirpuri told the PA news agency: “I did not see it. Any wedding on whatever level is always stressful, especially the lead up to it, and this was no different. But everyone was very friendly, very co-operative, and it was an honour to be asked to serve.”

He and a team of three others worked for three consecutive days at Kensington Palace and Windsor Castle until 4am each morning as they mended the dresses, which had been hand-sewn from measurements taken at a single fitting.

“We had done work for Harry and Meghan before and we just had a request from a PA saying ‘Can you come in and take a look?’, and that is exactly what we did,” Mr Mirpuri said.

“The issue was the sizing but I don’t know anything prior to that. Givenchy is a fantastic brand and I can’t say anything about what had happened before. We were just brought in to try to fix a challenge, and that’s what we did.”
