It’s official: baby Archie’s hair colour is red, like his father, Prince Harry.

Speaking to parents at the annual Wellchild Awards in central London last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chatted to award winner Milly Sutherland, 11, and her mother Angela, 50 from Liverpool.

During the candid chat at a reception for winners at the Royal Lancaster hotel, the mother and daughter asked whether Archie has red hair.

Angela said: “Meghan said he has and Harry said he definitely is, you can see it in his eyebrows.

“Harry said he’d had no hair for five months, but Meghan told him she had taken him to the playgroup and she said there were other children there with the same amount of hair or even less.”

Milly received the Most Caring Child Award for having cared for and protecting her sister Sophie, who had Aicardi Syndrome and tragically passed away in 2018.

When Archie was born on May 6, fans wanted to know whether he had inherited his father’s red hair with some drawing attention to what they claimed was “tufts of reddish hair.”

“He has lovely, puffy little legs and tufts of reddish hair. He’s really adorable,” a source told told PEOPLE.

The official photos from Archie’s christening in July showed him sleeping in his mother’s arms and then in another, wide awake surrounded by members of the Royal Family.

Fans were already convinced from those photos that Archie bore a resemblance to Harry.

Then when the five-month-old made an appearance during the royal tour of South Africa, meeting Archbishop Desmond Tutu, pictures seemed to highlight the tot had red hair, with royal fans commenting the tot looked just like his dad as a baby.

Social media was flooded with comments from people pointing out the resemblance between father and son, with some commenting that the child is Harry’s “twin.”

At last night’s engagement the duchess also revealed that baby Archie had reached another milestone by attending his first play group.

"I just took Archie for his first [playgroup] class. It was a lot of fun. He loved it," Meghan revealed to the mum of one of the winners.

It was clearly an emotional night for the royal couple. While speaking about becoming a parent, Prince Harry teared up and had to momentarily pause his speech.

A patron of the charity which helps seriously ill children, the duke made a speech where he spoke about fatherhood.

He began: “Last year, when my wife and I attended, we knew we were expecting our first child — no one else did at the time, but we did — and I remember…”

However, in video footage of the moment, Harry can barely finish his words before choking up with tears and taking a pause.
