Video Transcript

HARRY CHARLES ALBERT DAVID: It has been unbelievably tough for the two of us. But at least we have each other.

- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seemingly hold nothing back in their upcoming two hour interview special with Oprah Winfrey.

OPRAH WINFREY: You've said some pretty shocking things here. Wait. Hold up. Wait a minute.

KATIE NICHOLL: The couple really want this to be an interview in which they can sit down and tell their side of the story. Up until now, we've heard versions of their story through the voices and the retelling of other people. This is their first opportunity to sit down and talk about the past year in their own words.

- The first footage from the upcoming interview was released on Sunday, giving viewers an inside look at the no holds barred conversation, including how Prince Harry feels navigating life in the public eye nearly 24 years after the death of his mom, Princess Diana.

HARRY CHARLES ALBERT DAVID: For me, I'm just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side. Because I can't begin to imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process by herself all those years ago. Because it has been unbelievably tough for the two of us. But at least we have each other. My biggest concern was history repeating itself.

KATIE NICHOLL: I'm told the intention is not to hurt or upset anyone in the royal family. They want to be respectful, particularly to the queen. But it is important to the couple that they finally now have a chance to put their side of their story across in their own words.

- We also see Meghan and Oprah go one on one.

OPRAH WINFREY: Were you silent, or were you silenced? Almost unsurvivable sounds like there was a breaking point.

KATIE NICHOLL: It's going to be a wide ranging interview. We understand that Meghan is going to talk about marrying into the royal family, about motherhood, about leaving the royal family. And of course, the couple will talk about what they're going to do next. And I think there is very much a desire to talk about the future, but also to reflect on some of the past.

- Oprah with Meghan and Harry, a CBS primetime special airs Sunday March 7 at 8:00 PM.
