Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just gave one of their biggest fans a sweet surprise on her birthday. On Thursday, The Today Show in Australia shared a story about war widow Daphne Dunne turning 99 years old, and delivered a heartfelt message from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Daphne has a very special bond with Harry and Meghan, but she certainly wasn't expecting them to even know about her birthday. But once she found out they indeed sent a note, she was excited to hear their well wishes.
"Dear Daphne, My wife and I send our warmest wishes to you on the occasion of your 99th birthday on Friday," the letter begins. "We hope you have a wonderful celebration surrounded by family and friends and that you've managed to escape hospital. Congratulations on reaching this important and impressive milestone before your centenary year next year. Happy birthday, Daphne."
Harry first met Daphne back in 2015 when he received a kiss from her during a military trip to Sydney, Australia. Two years later, they came face-to-face again and shared a warm embrace. Their most recent reunion happened in October when Harry introduced Daphne to Meghan after Kensington Palace announced the duchess's pregnancy. "Hopefully next time we see you, we'll have a little one with us," Meghan told Daphne at the time.
Now we're anticipating their next reunion and hopefully seeing Daphne meet baby Sussex. Ahead, watch The Today Show's segment before viewing some of Harry and Meghan's most adorable snapshots with Daphne!
