A new royal show is heading to Netflix—and it isn't just the newest season of The Crown.
After much anticipation, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's docuseries, Harry & Meghan, will at last drop on the streaming giant this month.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex first signed a multiyear deal with Netflix back in 2020, for which they set out to produce docuseries, feature films, scripted shows, and children's programming.
Though there were whispers around the time their Netflix deal was announced that the couple would take part in a reality series, a spokesperson for the Sussexes shut the rumors down.
And Meghan said in an interview with The Cut earlier this year, "The piece of my life I haven't been able to share, that people haven't been able to see, is our love story. I hope that is the sentiment that people feel when they see any of the content or the projects that we are working on."

When will the docuseries be available to stream?
Netflix announced that the show will be released in two volumes, with Volume 1 premiering on December 8 and Volume 2 on December 15.
What do the trailers reveal?
A new full-length trailer released on December 5 illustrates a complicated portrait of the Sussexes's time as working senior royals.
"It's really hard to look back on it now and go, 'What on earth happened?'" Harry says, speaking the troubles that eventually led them to step down from their roles.
"The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution, this feeding frenzy," he says. "It's a dirty game."
As the trailer flashed footage of Harry's mother, Princess Diana, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, being hounded by paparazzi, Harry said he was "terrified" when the same thing started happening to Meghan. "I didn't want history to repeat itself," he explains.
"I realized they're never gonna protect you," Meghan adds. Clips show a pregnant Meghan looking distressed alongside Harry, as well as the duchess crying on the couch as Harry tries to console her.
"No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth," Harry says at the end of the video.
On December 1, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released the first teaser for the show.
The short video shows intimate photos from the couple's life together and from their separate childhoods, as well as highly publicized shots of them during public engagements following their nuptials—including with the royal family.
In one photo, Meghan is even seen wiping away tears during the 2020 Commonwealth Day ceremony—the pair's final event as senior royals, before they stepped down from their roles.
The first look also highlights why the Sussexes decided to open up their private lives to the public with the series.
"Why did you want to make this documentary?" the couple is asked in the promo.
"No one sees what's happening behind closed doors," Harry says, as clips of them looking grim at various engagements beside Prince William, Princess Catherine, and other members of the royal family flash on the screen. "I had to do everything I could to protect my family."
"When the stakes are this high, doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?" Meghan says.
Who is directing?
Liz Garbus, an Oscar-nominated documentary director who has previously worked on critically acclaimed projects like What Happened, Miss Simone? and Girlhood, helmed the series. Meghan opened up about working with Garbus in a recent interview with Variety.
"It's nice to be able to trust someone with our story—a seasoned director whose work I've long admired—even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it. But that's not why we're telling it. We're trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens," she told the outlet. "It's interesting. My husband has never worked in this industry before. For me, having worked on Suits, it's so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view. That's been really fun."
