King Charles is likely to be furious over “derogatory” nicknames Prince Harry has given private secretaries in his memoir, a royal biographer claims.

The Duke of Sussex refers to three “courtiers” as The Bee, The Fly and The Wasp, writing: “I’d spent my life dealing with courtiers, scores of them. But now I dealt mostly with just three, all middle-aged white men who’d managed to consolidate power through a series of bold Machiavellian manoeuvres.”

Robert Jobson said that anyone with a “semblance” of knowledge about the workings of the royal household would know who the “deeply insulting” comments are about.

Harry has denied boasting about killing 25 people in Afghanistan, describing this as “very dangerous” spin.

The Duke told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show in the US that watching the reactions has been “hurtful and challenging”.

“Without a doubt, the most dangerous lie that they have told is that I somehow boasted about the number of people that I killed in Afghanistan,” Harry said.

Spare has become the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever, recording figures of 400,000 copies so far across hardback, ebook and audio formats on its first day of publication.

Tailor says he did not see Kate and Meghan argue ahead of royal wedding

The tailor who fixed the bridesmaid dresses that sparked a row between the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex ahead of the royal wedding has said he did not witness any argument between the two women.

Ajay Mirpuri, who runs Mirpuri Bespoke tailors in London’s West End, was called in by Meghan and the Duke of Sussex four days before their May 2018 nuptials to mend six ill-fitting Givenchy dresses.

Initial reports had suggested Kate was in tears over the incident, but Harry’s account in his memoir Spare says it was Meghan who was left “sobbing on the floor”.

Mr Mirpuri told the PA news agency: “I did not see it. Any wedding on whatever level is always stressful, especially the lead up to it, and this was no different. But everyone was very friendly, very co-operative, and it was an honour to be asked to serve.”

He and a team of three others worked for three consecutive days at Kensington Palace and Windsor Castle until 4am each morning as they mended the dresses, which had been hand-sewn from measurements taken at a single fitting.

“We had done work for Harry and Meghan before and we just had a request from a PA saying ‘Can you come in and take a look?’, and that is exactly what we did,” Mr Mirpuri said.

“The issue was the sizing but I don’t know anything prior to that. Givenchy is a fantastic brand and I can’t say anything about what had happened before. We were just brought in to try to fix a challenge, and that’s what we did.”

One UK-based bookshop has created a cheeky window display for Prince Harry’s Spare. Bert’s Books in Swindon went viral on Twitter when they tweeted an image of the display.

However, Bruni –who is married to former French president Nicolas Sarkozy – made some changes to the image, as she replaced the Duchess of Sussex’s face with Yoko Ono. Bruni’s caption of her post also featured lines from The Beatles’ 1967 song, “All You Need Is Love”.

Bruni’s joke appears to be comparing Meghan’s relationship with Harry to Ono’s involvement in John Lennon’s life. In 1971, Ono and Lennon left the UK and moved to the US.

Prince Harry’s highly anticipated memoir Spare has finally hit bookshelves, but some bookstores are poking fun at the book’s scathing opinion of the royal family.

The Duke of Sussex can now add author to his résumé, after Spare was released on Tuesday 10 January following nearly a week of leaked excerpts and headline-grabbing details taking aim at the royal family.

In London, some stores opened at midnight to meet the demand for the controversial memoir, while others have extended their hours. Harry’s autobiography has already hit the No 1 spot on many bestseller lists, as others call it one of the “biggest pre-order titles for a decade”.

Now, one UK-based bookshop has created a cheeky window display for Prince Harry’s Spare. Bert’s Books in Swindon went viral on Twitter on Tuesday when they tweeted an image of the display.

In the picture, four copies of Spare are displayed alongside three copies of How To Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie. “Anyway, we do have some spare copies of Spare if you want one,” they captioned the tweet, which has almost 8,000 likes.

You might feel as if you’ve already read Prince Harry’s memoir Spare by now. The virginity lost to a stallion trainer behind a pub. The dog bowl-smashing, necklace-ripping tussle with William. The constant calling out of his family briefing the press. This book doesn’t so much lift the curtain on private royal life than rip it off and shake out its contents. But it’s also richly detailed and at times beautifully written; if Harry is going to set fire to his family, he has at least done it with some style.

Spare’s ghostwriter JR Moehringer was behind tennis star Andre Agassi’s extraordinary memoir Open, and his choice as Harry’s collaborator was an early indication that the book would be no curling celebrity memoir. Even so, it is breathtakingly frank. His wife might be the natural on camera, but Harry seems to hit his stride on paper, his voice more authentic than the Californian inflections he slipped into while being interviewed with Meghan for their great soufflé of a Netflix docuseries (between the bombshells of Oprah and Spare, the streaming giant might be feeling justifiably short changed) even if at times his style is a little chaotic, written in a gallop of posh, staccato sentences that speak of “Ma”, “Pa”, “Willy”, and (yes) “todgers”.

Prince Harry’s television interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby has aired in 77 territories globally, ITV Studios reports.

Harry: The Interview was first broadcast in the UK on Sunday night, discussing some of the key revelations from the memoir ahead of its publication on Tuesday 10 January.

The programme, which spanned 90 minutes, accumulated an average TV audience of 4.1 million. It has achieved the channel’s highest rating for a factual programme for more than a year.

The interview has now been streamed across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Canada and Brazil following a series of global deals.

Before the interview aired, ITV brokered arrangements with channels across Europe. Networks globally secured the rights for certain countries, including a pan-African deal with South African television channel M-Net. As part of this deal, the interview is available in 54 countries.

ITV plans to announce more deals across the globe in the coming days.

Prince Harry’s forthcoming memoir Spare reportedly contains a passage in which the royal recounts a violent altercation with his older brother Prince William.

The row erupted at Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace in London in 2019, with the Duke of Sussex alleging that his sibling had arrived “piping hot” to confront him about his marriage to the American actress Meghan Markle and their running battles with the British press, according to The Guardian.
