Prince Harry And Prince William Won't See Each Other Until The Morning Of Prince Philip's Funeral
Prince Harry is in England for his late grandfather Prince Philip's funeral, which will be his first time seeing the royal family since the Sussexes' bombshell Oprah interview. The royals are hoping that the trip helps ease tension between Prince William and Prince Harry, but according to The Daily Mail they have no plans to see each other before the funeral itself on Saturday, April 17. The outlet also reports that the brothers have spoken on the phone, and that Kate Middleton will be acting as "peacemaker" during their reunion.
Meanwhile, a source tells The Telegraph (via The Daily Mail) that "They know it is not about them on Saturday – it is about honouring their grandfather's memory and supporting their grandmother. I would be extremely surprised if that wasn't front and centre of both their minds. They will be keen to spend time together as a family, in the same time zone for once."
While Harry and William's focus is clearly going to be on supporting the Queen during this difficult time, royal correspondent Katie Nicholl says the family is hopeful that the reunion can get the brothers' relationship back on track. "There is every hope that this will be the beginning of the thawing of the rift between William and Harry," Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight. "I think the feeling certainly amongst senior royals and those who know the royals well, is that this will be an opportunity for the brothers to be together, to spend some much-needed time together."
She also made it clear that Harry's priority remains his grandmother, saying "Because of COVID, Prince Harry simply can't see the queen. For the next five days, he has to self-isolate, but of course given what has happened and what the queen is going through, I would imagine that she is probably the first person he will want to see as soon as he's been given the all clear."
