It’s no secret that Prince Harry is seeking a judicial review after his security request in the U.K. was denied. However, there’s a hidden meaning behind his latest statement on the matter, which reflects his close-knit relationship with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

It all started last year when the Duke of Sussex, 37, filed a formal request, asking the U.K. to allow him to pay for police protection for his family should they come abroad. After the motion was denied, Prince Harry enlisted a rep to release a rare statement, which explained why he and his wife, Meghan Markle, are “unable to return” to London until safety measures are established. In particular, the royal wants these protections so that he can feel comfortable bringing his children—Archie (2) and Lilibet (7 months)—to the U.K.

Based on this information, it seems Prince Harry wants the matter to be handled ASAP. And there’s a totally valid reason why it should be considered urgent.

Queen Elizabeth is 95 years old, and she has never met Lilibet (who was named after the monarch). Not to mention, the queen has barely spent any time with Archie as he has moved to California.

Although the queen is in relatively good health after her latest hospital visit, she’s probably not doing any major traveling soon. Therefore, Prince Harry must bring Lilibet to London if he wants his grandmother to meet his daughter. This would also allow other members of the royal family—like Prince Charles and Prince William—to meet the child, too.

This is likely a big deal for Prince Harry, who has developed an irreplaceable bond with Queen Elizabeth. Not only did she serve as a mother figure after Princess Diana’s death, but she also supported the Duke of Sussex during his controversial resignation. Therefore, her involvement in his children’s life would likely mean the world, hence the urgent public statement .

While his request to fund his family’s police protection was originally denied, the negotiations aren’t over. Perhaps the queen’s Platinum Jubilee is the perfect excuse to change the rules for the Sussexes to ensure safety measures are in place?
