Prince tribute show ‘Purple Reign’ moving from Tropicana to Planet Hollywood

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Purple Reign has found a new home at the V Theater inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, scheduling performances starting Tuesday, March 19.

The move — with the Tropicana’s closing only about five weeks away — keeps the popular Prince tribute act on the Las Vegas Strip. The show starring Jason Tenner has been at the Trop since 2017.

Tickets for Purple Reign are on sale now with ticket prices starting at $77 plus taxes and fees. Performances are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the V Theater box office or online at VTheater.com, Ticketmaster.com and Tix4.com.

The show “captures the imagination and seamlessly re-creates the blistering performances and raw energy of Prince in his prime and returns to the era that made ‘The Artist’ an international superstar,” according to a news release announcing the move. The show also features a tribute to Morris Day and The Time and Vanity 6.

Purple Reign has won many awards through the years, rising from “humble beginnings in small UNLV college clubs” to appearances on the David Letterman show in 2008.

The show was selected as the season 3 opener for AXStv’s, “The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands.” It also received Las Vegas Weekly’s “All-Time Best Tribute Show” award in 2020, according to the news release.
