One of Prince William’s best friends is engaged to a teacher at Prince George’s school for an enlightening twist to the traditional love story known to royal circles. The Duke of Cambridge’s longtime pal Thomas van Straubenzee has reportedly proposed to educator Lucy Lanigan-O’Keeffe, who just so happens to teach courses at Prince George’s school.

The exact story of how the couple first connected remains a mystery, but what’s known about the future bride is that she is an outdoor learning and mindfulness teacher at the Battersea campus of the London Day School. “Nobody would be surprised if Prince William or his wife, Kate, were involved,” one source told the Sunday Times.

Thomas’s Battersea is also the same school that 5-year-old Prince George, the eldest son of William and Kate Middleton, attends. Princess Charlotte will begin attending the same school this fall.

The same paper reported that Prince William was one of the first people to discover the engagement news. He will supposedly serve in the wedding and give a speech, while his children will be tapped as part of the junior wedding party. (Both Prince George and Princess Charlotte have now been a repeat page boy and junior bridesmaid in family members’ weddings, so the role won’t be new to the little royals.)

The van Strabenzee brothers, Thomas and Charlie, are longtime friends of William and Prince Harry. This will be Thomas’s second wedding.
