From Town & Country

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been leaning into social media lately, as a way to stay connected to the public amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account—which boasts 11.5 million followers and counting—has been quite active, posting about the couple's recent video conference with teachers and showcasing how the Duke and Duchess work from home.

The royal couple has also been staffing up to help with this effort, bringing on David Watkins—the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's former digital communications head, and onetime global social media coordinator for Burberry.

According to People and his LinkedIn page, the 27-year-old Watkins started working for Will and Kate about a month ago, in "Digital Communications and Social Media."

This move comes after Watkins spent nearly a year working on @SussexRoyal, Meghan and Harry's Instagram account. After launching last year, @SussexRoyal quickly became wildly successful, amassing 11.3 million followers and breaking an Instagram record as the fastest profile to reach one million followers in less than six hours.

Of course, just before officially stepping back from their royal roles on April 1, Meghan and Harry retired that handlet. On March 30, the couple posted their final Instagram on @SussexRoyal.

"As we all find the part we are to play in this global shift and changing of habits, we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute," the couple's comment read. "While you may not see us here, the work continues."
