William opened up about his family life for new film Prince Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall. The program highlights work done on the 135-acre estate that currently provides an income for Prince Charles and will pass to William when Charles becomes king.

Greeting farmer Mervyn Keeling on one of his visits to Duchy land where they saw some of the farm equipment, William said, “I should have brought George today; he would be absolutely loving this…He’s obsessed.”

The prince also discussed the significance of the family in farming, where land is often passed down through generations. Hearing from Mervyn how the farm has been his life, and he is keen for the next generation to have a “good opportunity,” William said: “I think it’s really important, Mervyn, about the family angle, I really do.”

Adding that he has started to think about the day when he will inherit the Duchy and what he will do with it, William said, “My children are already, y’know, playing on the tractors and, like you say, it’s so important to get outside, and have the children understand nature.”

The two-part documentary highlights how Prince Charles has used his personality and interests to inform a philosophy for Duchy land. Charles also voiced his concerns over climate change in the program.

For his part, William assured Mervyn that he hopes to emulate his father’s management style of the estate, telling him, "Well rest assured I’m not going to rock the boat; I’ll do much the same as what my father’s doing. I’m not so into the architecture that’s the only thing."

Prince Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall, starts on Thursday 24th October, 9pm, ITV. At this point, it's unclear if or when the documentary will air the the U.S.
