Princess Beatrice Arrived at the Queen's Funeral with Her Mother, Sarah Ferguson

Members of the royal family gathered this morning to pay a public farewell to the late Queen Elizabeth II at her official state funeral at Westminster Abbey. Among the mourners, Princess Beatrice arrived with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, alongside her mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, and her sister, Princess Eugenie.

The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew, Beatrice is one the Queen's eight grandchildren. The princess, who is currently ninth in line for the throne, took in the service with the royal family, sitting near her cousin, Prince Harry and just behind her uncle, the new King Charles III. Though some of the next generation of the royal family were in attendance, including Prince William's children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, Beatrice's baby daughter, Sienna Elizabeth, was not at the service.

In addition to her position as princess (unlike some members of her family Beatrice is not a working royal) she was recently promoted as one of four Counsellors of State following Queen Elizabeth's death. According to the royal family's website, Counsellors of State include the spouse of the sovereign, and the next four people in the line of succession who are over the age of 21. Current Counsellors of State include Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, and Andrew's eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice.

Per the royal family, "Counsellors of State are authorised to carry out most of the official duties of the Sovereign, for example, attending Privy Council meetings, signing routine documents and receiving the credentials of new ambassadors to the United Kingdom."
