Princess Estelle of Sweden Is Adorable in Her Official “Back-to-School” Portrait

It’s mid-August, which means children across the world are trading in their swimsuits and sand pails for backpacks and sharpened pencils. And while many dread their return to the classroom, there’s one pupil who seems beyond excited for school to start: Princess Estelle of Sweden.

The Swedish royal family released a portrait of the seven-year-old princess on her first day of first grade. In it, she leans against a tree wearing a blue blouse. Her hair blows in the wind as she flashes a big smile. “Time for the call!” the translated caption reads. “Today, many children are returning to the books.”

It’s just one of several adorable photographs Estelle has taken lately: Last week, the family released snapshots of her and three-year-old brother Oscar enjoying their warm-weather break. In one, the two little children are dressed casually, with Oscar donning a T-shirt and a baseball cap, and Estelle wearing a blue-and-white striped jumpsuit and sneakers. More photos show the two enjoying time by the water. “Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar photographed during the summer holidays,” they wrote. They also noted the pictures were taken on the west coast of Sweden and the Kalmar Strait.

Another Instagram shows the family visiting sculptures on the island of Tjörn.

The back-to-school photograph was taken by none other than Estelle and Oscar’s mother, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. She’s not the only mom to regularly play professional photographer: the Duchess of Cambridge has also taken official portraits of her children. Most recently, she got behind the lens for Prince George’s sixth birthday, during which she captured the little prince in an England soccer jersey.

So for those feeling blue about the approaching Labor Day, let Princess Estelle’s joyful enthusiasm get you ready for fall.
