Princess Eugenie Returns to St. George's Chapel (Where She Wed 6 Months Ago!) with Queen Elizabeth

Princess Eugenie has returned to a place that has a special place in her heart.

The 29-year-old royal joined her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, for the traditional Royal Maundy Service on Thursday at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, where Eugenie wed Jack Brooksbank in a fairy tale ceremony back in October.

Wearing a floral Erdem dress that she previously wore to the Royal Ascot last June and to a U.N. meeting last July paired with a navy headband and heels, Eugenie walked the church’s black and white floors that marked her recent walk down the aisle. She stayed close to the monarch, who stuck to her trademark bold colors and wide-brimmed hat for the occasion, opting for a yellow coat over a printed dress.

The outing marks just the second time a royal besides Prince Philip appeared with the Queen for the service that takes place the Thursday before Easter. (In 2012, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year, Eugenie’s older sister Princess Beatrice, 30, joined her grandparents as service.)

Each recipient of Maundy money – one male and one female for every year the Queen has been alive – was given two small leather purses, one red and one white.

The first contains a small amount of coinage which symbolizes the monarch’s gift for food and clothing – this year in the form of newly two minted cousins: a £5 piece, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria and a 50p coin portraying Sherlock Holmes. The white purse contains Maundy coins up to the value of the Queen’s age. Recipients at Thursday’s service were given 93p in silver Maundy coins.

“It seems to have been the custom as early as the thirteenth century for members of the royal family to take part in Maundy ceremonies, to distribute money and gifts, and to recall Christ’s simple act of humility by washing the feet of the poor,” according to the Royal Mint.

Eugenie and the monarch, who turns 93 this weekend, also posed for photos holding Nosegays, a bouquet made up of daffodils, primroses, stocks, purple statice, freesias, ivy, hebe and the herbs rosemary and thyme. The flowers were originally used to disguise odors as the monarch washed the feet of recipients.

Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, shared a photo from the traditional service on her personal Instagram page.

“So proud of Her Majesty and Eugenie at the Maundy Thursday Service at St. George’s Chapel today,” Fergie captioned the snap.

Although Jack usually doesn’t accompany Eugenie on royal engagements – he works as the U.K. brand ambassador for Casamigos, the tequila company founded by George Clooney and Rande Gerber – he recently joined Eugenie and her father, Prince Andrew, to officially open the new Stanmore Building at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Prince Andrew has been a Patron of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital since 2003, and part of the building construction was financed by the RNOH Charity’s Redevelopment Appeal, of which Eugenie is a Patron. The Queen’s granddaughter had surgery at 12 years old to correct her scoliosis – and proudly showed off her scar during her wedding.

During the couple’s October wedding reception, Andrew had a little fun at his new son-in-law’s expense during his speech and had the crowd chuckling.

“The Duke told a story about their dog Jack [a Norfolk terrier],” a source at the wedding tells PEOPLE. “One day, I think it was early in the relationship, he shouted, ‘Jack, get off the chair!’ And the dog didn’t move. But Jack did!”
