Prisoner escapes minimum-security facility in Delano

Oct. 26—A prisoner escaped Wednesday from the minimum-security facility at North Kern State Prison in Delano, the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reported Thursday.

A routine security check done at 10:15 p.m. indicated Tony McDade, 37, was missing. That prompted a search and notification to local law enforcement.

McDade, described as standing 6 feet and weighing 180 pounds with brown eyes and black hair, arrived at the prison July 24 to serve two years and eight months for two counts of second-degree burglary.

Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts was asked to contact law enforcement or call 911.
