TULLAHOMA, Tenn. (WKRN) — A private company jet had a close call with the Tullahoma airport, according to airport officials.

According to Tullahoma Municipal Airport Manager Jon Glass, a private company jet crashed into the fence between the airfield and the terminal building Wednesday morning, stopping shockingly close to the building.

Glass told News 2 the jet was at the Tullahoma airport on a fuel stop from Texas. While the pilot was parking the jet, Glass said the brakes failed for unknown reasons. The pilot reportedly pulled the emergency brakes, but only one set deployed, prompting the plane to turn and roll toward the terminal.

Luckily, Glass said the fence and grass between the plane and the building softened the crash, and the terminal was spared. The plane stopped just eight feet shy of the terminal, Glass added.

All six people on board were not injured and the plane suffered minimal damage, according to Glass. The FAA and NTSB were notified and interviewed the pilot by phone, but did not send any officials to Tullahoma as no injuries were reported.

The jet’s wingtip was slightly damaged, and the plane also clipped another parked aircraft during its roll on the taxiway.

An adjuster is coming to assess the damaged plane in the morning, Glass said.

According to FAA records, the jet is a 1999 Cessna 550 registered to EBAA Iron, Inc.
