Priyanka Chopra’s Wedding Week Outfits: See All Her Colorful, Traditional Gowns and More

It’s been a week for Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, who married in back-to-back wedding ceremonies to welcome December. The couple embraced their to-be-wed and newlywed statuses by donning a number of colorful, festive outfits in the days prior to their wedding. On the actual day of their Christian wedding ceremony, the bride and groom both wore Ralph Lauren with Chopra in a breathtaking piece that featured more than 2 million sequins.

What’s been the biggest talk of the town, however, has undoubtedly been Chopra’s gorgeous array of outfits, a different one for each occasion with the details below.

The Mehendi

On Thursday, Chopra, 36, and Jonas, 26, kicked off their epic wedding weekend with a Mehendi ceremony in the afternoon, a co-ed affair that largely revolved around Chopra getting henna applied to her hands and feet to signify the start of the wedding events.

“Modern brides will play traditional games,” Shawna Gohel, Founder and CEO of Maharani Weddings, tells The Knot. “For example, back in the day, there were arranged marriages and the groom’s name would be hidden in the bride’s henna designs on her hand. When the couple finally had alone time, the groom would find his name in her hands, which is essentially an ice breaker.”

For the Mehendi ceremony, Chopra wore an organdy sherwani that consisted of 48 panels with an intricate silk design, made by Khosla Jani designer Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The actress showed off the stunning, multi-colored outfit in a series of photos snapped in a sunlit courtyard of the Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace. The gown consisted of a shortsleeve, figure-hugging top and a wildly flowy skirt featuring layers of yellow, red and green.

The Sangeet

The couple held their Sangeet ceremony that same day, later on in the evening. The event, considered an “all-out dance party,” according to Gohel, gave the stage to members of both the bride and groom’s families to dance, sing, and perform for one another.

“Traditionally, both sides of the family perform dances and song for the couples as a gift or a token to express appreciation,” Gohel says. “All family members perform. Starting with nieces and nephews, then cousins, siblings, parents and finally the bride and groom!”

For the Sangeet, both Chopra and Jonas donned designs by Khosla Jani: Chopra wore a hand-embroidered silver and gold sari covered in sequins, with a thin-strapped top partially covered on one side by the folds of the sari material. Jonas also wore a Khosla Jani design, a midnight-blue sherwani that aptly complemented Chopra’s brighter colors.

The Haldi

Though photos from the Haldi ceremony have not yet emerged, it is an important part of the Hindu wedding ceremony, and often requires the bride to wear yellow.

“Haldi is another word for Turmeric,” Gohel says. “It involves a paste comprised of yogurt, turmeric, and coconut oil. All of your family members put this paste on your hands and your feet to help you have that wedding glow.”

The Christian Wedding

Chopra and Jonas first exchanged vows in a more traditional Christian ceremony on Saturday, with Jonas’s father, Pastor Paul Kevin Jonas Sr., officiating. Images from their wedding were released Tuesday, December 4 with both the bride and groom dressed in Ralph Lauren creations.

Chopra’s gown, a long-sleeve column piece featuring a high neck, included more than 2 million sequins and took 1,826 hours to embroider, according to People magazine. It was a sweet nod to the American designer, whom they both represented at the Met Ball 2017, the oft-referred to scene of one of their more public first encounters.

The Hindu Ceremony

Similarly, photos from Chopra and Jonas’s extravagant Hindu ceremony on Sunday were also revealed Tuesday, revealing Chopra’s full look by the famous designer Sabyasachi Mukherji, who was spotted arriving in Jodhpur Friday.

“I always knew I wanted a red traditional silhouette for my wedding but Sabya brought in incredible French embroidery to the mix and with incredible jewelry and Western-inspired veil,” Chopra told People. “It was just such an amalgamation of who I am.”

The custom creation, a red lehenga, took more than 3,720 hours to make with the help of 100-plus people.

The Reception

The couple hosted a reception on Tuesday, December 4, in New Delhi after a weekend of fanfare in Jodhpur.
