Pro-Abortion Protesters Demonstrate in Front of Pelosi’s House

A handful of pro-abortion protesters demonstrated outside of Nancy Pelosi’s home in San Francisco this week, accusing the House speaker and her fellow Democrats of being “complicit” in the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade, according to a new report.
Fox News reported on the protest, saying the demonstration came after the pro-abortion group Ruth Sent Us announced that multiple groups planned to demonstrate outside of Pelosi’s residence to demand that she “investigate the corrupt justices” and “save abortion.”
Pelosi is just one of several public figures who have seen protests outside of their homes after a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion suggested the Court may be poised to return the question of abortion to the states. Protesters have gathered outside the homes of Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Justice Samuel Alito in recent days.
The protesters outside of Pelosi’s home carried a banner that said, “abortion on demand and without apology!” according to Fox News. The group also held signs with the faces of the five conservative justices who reportedly supported the draft opinion that would overturn Roe. The signs had “LIAR” written over the justices’ heads.
“We are here because this draft decision is what it is, it’s only a draft, and we will protest here, in front of the leadership of the Democratic Party, and in the streets from coast to coast, unceasingly, because we work to keep abortion legal – legal and accessible, not rare,” one protester said, according to the report.
The protester criticized both Hillary Clinton, who she said “started the whole thing like abortion should be legal, but rare, as if abortion is a tragedy,” and Pelosi for saying in 2017 that Democrats should not make abortion a litmus-test issue for the party.
The demonstration came after Pelosi supported other pro-abortion protests that happened over the weekend.
“While we have seen and heard extraordinary anguish in our communities, we have been moved by how so many have channeled their righteous anger into meaningful action: planning to march and mobilize to make their voices heard,” Pelosi said on Monday.
Democrats have largely failed to condemn the protests outside of the justices’ homes. When a reporter asked Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer if he is “comfortable” with the protests outside the homes of the justices on Wednesday, the Democratic leader said yes.
“Yes. My house, there’s protests three, four times a week outside,” he said. “That’s the American way to peacefully protest.”
In the middle of responding to the question, Schumer’s phone rang. He said, ‘That’s my wife. Maybe there’s a protest.”
