Pro-Democracy Protesters Take to Streets in Bangkok, Thailand

Thousands of pro-democracy protesters marched in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 14, to call for limitations on the powers of the monarchy and the resignation of Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Footage shows a group waving a flag, linked to the demonstrators’ three-fingered Hunger Games motif. “The people will be great in the land,” wrote video uploader, @mellow_may1 according to Google Translate.

According to local news reports, the protesters marched to the Nang Loeng intersection near Thailand’s Government House.

As of Thursday, October 15, the Thai government had reportedly issued an emergency declaration curbing gatherings of 5 or more and prohibiting “publication of news, other media, and electronic information that contains messages that could create fear or intentionally distort information, creating misunderstanding that will affect national security or peace and order.” Credit: @mellow_may1 via Storyful
