Northeast Ohio charities will receive more than $1.23 million raised at the 2023 Kaulig Companies Championship and the Ambassador of Golf event presented by FirstEnergy Foundation in July at Firestone Country Club in Akron.

The donation is the largest annual charitable total ever generated from professional golf events at Firestone, officials announced Wednesday. It was the first year that Kaulig Companies served as the title sponsor of the PGA Tour Champions event.

Charities that will benefit include: 100 Women Strong, A Kid Again, Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Akron Children’s Hospital, Ben Curtis Family Foundation, Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Cornerstone of Hope, Empower Sports, First Tee Greater Akron, LeBron James Family Foundation, Northeast Ohio Foundation for Patriotism, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, Strengthening Our Students, Summa Foundation, The Turn, Tire Town Golf Charities, United Way Summit Medina and University Hospitals.

Steve Stricker is the defending champion of the Kaulig Companies Championship. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry received the Ambassador of Golf award at Firestone in July. Next year’s tournament is scheduled for July 10-14. Golfers 50 or older compete in the PGA Tour Champions.
