Pro-Israel Activists Draw Anger After Unfurling #NeverCorbyn Banner Outside Corbyn Event in London

An anti-Jeremy Corbyn protest organized by pro-Israel groups Sussex Friends of Israel and the Israel Advocacy Movement drew an angry response from Corbyn voters in Hoxton on Wednesday, December 11, as the Labour leader held his final campaign event.

Members of the pro-Israel groups unravelled a banner reading “British Jews Say #NeverCorbyn”, and held placards reading “Racist Corbyn unfit to be PM”, while a counter protest of people holding Socialist Worker Party placards and chanting “free, free Palestine” and “oh, Jeremy Corbyn” gathered in front.

One man holding a copy of the Socialist Worker newspaper and a Socialist Worker Party banner told the pro-Israel groups that he thought “they were on the payroll of somebody” while a man wearing a hat covered in Labour stickers hit the camera.

“As we unfolded the banner, it was like lighting a touchpaper, because the whole place erupted,” an organizer of the protest said. Credit: Israel Advocacy Movement via Storyful
