Pro-Palestinian Demonstrators Gather at Israeli Consulate in Istanbul

A large crowd of people, many with Palestinian flags, gathered outside the Israeli consulate in Istanbul on the night of May 9-10, amid tensions and clashes at the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

Police and protesters clashed at the sacred site in Jerusalem over the weekend and again on May 10, when hundreds of Palestinians were reported wounded, along with at least 21 police officers.

Tensions have been heightened in Jerusalem this Ramadan, amid the possible eviction of several Palestinian families in the city’s eastern Shaikh Jarrah district.
