Unidentified persons threw Molotov cocktails at the house of Ukrainian pro-Kremlin propagandist Anatoly Shariy in the Spanish city of Tarragona, online newspaper elDiario reported on Oct. 24.

As seen in the published video, several incendiary mixtures were used in the attack, which led to a serious fire in the building.

The Spanish outlet reported that Shariy had recently begun receiving new threats online and over the phone, including one that threatened to throw Molotov cocktails at his house.

Shariy reacted to the incident and said that the Spanish police allegedly linked the attack to a "cartel investigation."

"They already know who did it, I can't say more; there is no politics in the case," he added.

This refers to one of Shariy's latest videos, in which he accuses Ukrainian politicians of drug trafficking.

Shariy is wanted in Ukraine on treason charges. As reported by Ukraine’s SBU security service, after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Shariy personally helped the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) to make and distribute staged videos of Russians interrogating Ukrainian prisoners.

Anatoliy Shariy left Ukraine in 2012 and has since lived in various EU countries, most recently in Spain. On May 4, 2022, he was detained by Spanish law enforcement. According to Spanish media, the blogger was detained in the city of Tarragona (Catalonia) because of an international arrest warrant.

He was later released, and Spain refused to extradite him to Ukraine.
