•        Polish farmers declare nationwide strike, Ukraine border blockades
Polish farmers have announced a nationwide strike with road and border crossing blockades, set to begin on Feb. 9 at 10:00 a.m., reported Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform on Feb. 2, citing the Rural Solidarity trade union.

•        Russia masses over 40,000 soldiers, heavy armor near Kupyansk, hinting at plans for further advances
The Russian military has concentrated about 40,000 troops, more than 500 tanks, and 650 armored combat vehicles near Kupyansk, Illya Yershash, the head of the press service of the Khortytsia operational and strategic troop grouping, said on national television on Feb. 2.

•        Ukraine informs White House that Zaluzhnyi will be dismissed – report
The Ukrainian government has informed the United States that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has decided to dismiss Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi, The Washington Post reported on Feb. 2, citing two sources.

•        Ukrainian reporters sound alarm on Avdiivka battle, say Russian forces pushing closer to defense units
Russian forces have advanced into the construction zone of Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, and street fighting continues in the town, Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov reported on Telegram on Feb. 4.


•        Poland announces increased control and inspections at Ukraine border
The Polish government has introduced tighter control and more intensive inspections of goods from Ukraine at the border, the Minister of Agriculture of Poland Czeslaw Siekierski announced on X (Twitter) on Feb. 4.

•        Zelenskyy visits frontline positions near Robotyne in Zaporizhzhya Oblast
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the frontline positions of the 65th separate mechanized brigade near the village of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhya Oblast, according to his Feb. 4 Facebook post.

•        Avdiivka situation remains difficult, Ukraine keeping it stable — Musienko
The situation near Avdiivka, described by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as "especially difficult," was discussed at the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Musienko, head of the Center for Military-Law Researches, said on Radio NV on Feb. 3.

Former Fox News Channel host and Russian mouthpiece Tucker Carlson has arrived in Moscow, according to a photo published by the propaganda Telegram news channel Mash on Feb. 3.

•        Mobilizing 500,000 men would cost Ukraine nearly $19 billion
To mobilize 500,000 more people into service—as the Ukrainian military has requested—the government will have to pay UAH 700 billion ($18.7 billion) in additional expenditures, head of the parliamentary Budget Committee, Roksolana Pidlasa, said in an interview with Ukrainian NGO Centre for Economic Strategy on Jan. 30.

•        Diia app glitch delays Eurovision’s national selection winner announcement by almost 24 hours
The National Selection for Eurovision 2024 in Ukraine was marred by a glitch in the Diia app on the evening of Feb. 3, preventing viewers from voting for their favorite contestants. As a result, the organizers decided to postpone the winner announcement until Feb. 4.

•        Drone strike ignites fire at major Russian oil refinery in Volgograd, blaze covers 300 square meters
A fire broke out at the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery in Volgograd, Russia, as a result of a drone attack on the morning of Feb. 3, the ASTRA Telegram news channel reported.

•        Russia refuses to return bodies of alleged Il-76 crash casualties to Ukraine — HUR
Moscow is refusing to return the bodies of Ukrainian POWs who allegedly died in the Jan. 24 Il-76 military aircraft crash near Belgorod, Ukrainian Defense Intelligence (HUR) spokesman Andriy Yusov told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Feb. 1.

•        Ukrainian IT exports face first decline in years
The export of IT services demonstrated an unprecedented decline in both volume and share of total exports in 2023, reported IT Ukraine Association on Feb. 1.

•        Ukrainian vet: Russia's mobilized troop total means little, citing enormous KIA disparity inflicted
The Russian mobilization reserve, which is four times larger than Ukraine’s, does not guarantee them victory, Yevhen Dykyi, a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war and former company commander of the Aidar battalion, said in an interview with Radio NV on Feb. 2.
