Procession to be held today for Spartanburg County deputy Austin Aldridge

A procession for Spartanburg County deputy Austin Aldridge, killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, June 21, is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 23.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office organized the procession, and the route will follow Church St. from Pearl St. to Floyd's Mortuary, according to Lieutenant Kevin Bobo.

Community members also honored Aldridge through a memorial and prayer service at the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office. Numerous social media tributes have poured in for Aldridge, a former Byrnes High student and football player.

Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said Wednesday that Aldridge's funeral would be held Sunday. Details of the service have not been announced.
