Products help featured performers stand out

Sep. 24—This year's featured performers have plenty of boldness and courage to go around. Makeup enhances what they've already got.

These 10 high school students must perform from the final, humid nights of summer until the cold starts to creep in. They're moving, twirling, dancing and more, while maintaining a megawatt smile and their makeup and hair are staying intact all season long.

So, if they're using a product, it's gotta be good.

That's why I spoke with this year's featured performers about their signature looks and top beauty faves they won't hit the field without.

Miss Invader

West Scranton High School Paris Santee

Paris uses Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Matte Bronzer to sculpt and add warmth to her face to help her features stand out under the Friday night lights. She'll also never strut out onto the 50-yard-line without Dior Addict Glow Lip Glow Oil in 007 Raspberry on her lips. She tops off her whole vibe with Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa '62 Brazilian Crush fragrance, a warm gourmand made of salted caramel, vanilla bean and rich almond with deep sandalwood and pistachio notes to round it out.

Miss KnightScranton High School Canyah Randle

Canyah swears that her secret to a smudge-free look that doesn't budge is starting with a good primer, and she uses ELF Power Grip Primer. Mascara is her other must-have, and L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara defines her eyes. Like many of her fellow performers, smelling good is non-negotiable and her go-to scent is Bath and Body Works Champagne Toast, with notes of bubbly champagne, sparkling berries and juicy tangerine.

Miss Viking

Riverside Junior-Senior High SchoolCassie JenkinsLong, defined eyelashes are the most coveted part of any performer's look and Cassie achieves this by swiping on L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara on game days. She prefers a glossy, baby pink lip thanks to Dior Addict Glow Lip Glow Oil in 001 Pink. A one-inch barrel curling wand makes for the perfect loose-yet-polished waves under her sequined headpiece.

Miss BuckDunmore High SchoolMia IrvingOpting for super light, skin-like coverage, Mia applies Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint instead of a heavier, more full-coverage foundation. She swipes on ELF Satin Lipstick in Effortless, a cool mauve, and defines her lashes with volumizer Tarte Big Ego Mascara.

Miss CometAbington Heights High SchoolElizabeth EricksonElizabeth matches her eye makeup to her sequined outfit, thanks to Urban Decay 24/7 Moondust Eyeshadow in Cosmic, a sheer white sparkle made with microfine glitter. The icy shade is offset by long, lush lashes from using IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Mascara. As far as scent, Elizabeth uses Native Natural Deodorant in Vanilla and Sandalwood, an aluminum-free option, paired with Bath and Body Works Chasing Fireflies fragrance.

Miss Devilette

Old Forge Junior-Senior High School Isabella Burti

Isabella can't lead the Blue Devils out onto the field without Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara on her eyelashes. She opts for a nude lip courtesy of master makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic's Makeup by Mario Ultra Suede Sculpting Lip Pencil in Johnny, a muted rose pink. As her final step, she spritzes on Sol de Janeiro Cheiro '62 eau de parfum, a warm gourmand made of salted caramel, vanilla bean and rich almond with deep sandalwood and pistachio notes to round it out.

Miss CougarValley View High School Summer Chapman

For the newest featured performer in the bunch, Summer stands out on the field thanks to a bold red lip. Taking a cue from the Cougars' colors, blue and gold, she lines under her eyes with blue pencil and uses a powdered champagne-colored highlighter on the inner corners of her eyes.

Miss Spartan

Mid Valley Secondary Center Kylee Mancuso

Kylee focuses on her hair, pulling it back into a bun and fashioning a hair wrap around it for volume. She then places rhinestones and other hair gems around it for extra glam. As for makeup, you'll never catch her without CoverGirl Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara and a red lip by Fenty Beauty, which stands out against her school's signature Spartan blue and white.

Miss TrojanNorth Pocono High SchoolLydia MonroeLydia uses ELF Putty Primer to give her a flawless base that keeps her makeup in place all night, including Anastasia Beverly Hills concealer. She then uses IBY blush and highlighters to sculpt her cheekbones and accentuate the high points of her face.

Miss Chief

Lakeland Junior-Senior High School Madeline Miller

Madeline couldn't find the perfect glitter that matched Lakeland's colors, so she did what any Zoomer (aka member of Generation Z) would do — she D.I.Y.-ed it. Mixing up her own batch of fine glitter in red, white and blue, she then applies it to her face by using clear lip gloss. Her look isn't complete without accentuating the high points of her face and she especially loves Ulta Beauty's powder highlighter. She tops it all off with Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.
