Professional cleaner reveals how a cheap pumice stone can clean even the filthiest of ovens: ‘Girl! wow!’

Cleaning a well-loved (read: filthy) oven can be an incredibly intimidating task. But it is an important one, as dirty ovens can actually be a fire hazard.

Fortunately, for anyone who’s dreading cleaning their oven, professional cleaner Amy L. (@bossladycleaninghacks) has a hack to make it easier — a pumice stone for just a dollar.

In a TikTok from 2022, Amy demonstrated how well the tool can work by cleaning half of a dirty oven with the pumice stone and the other half with a Brillo pad

After showing off the two sides, with the Brillo pad side left dirty and the pumice side sparkling clean, Amy quipped about the results.

“I think it’s it’s pretty clear — pun intended — which tool works best,” she said.

Amy clarified that the stone can be used on the entire interior of the oven and that, providing the stone is used only when wet and with gentle pressure, it will not scratch oven glass or cause damage to the oven.

“I wouldn’t be in business if I were going around damaging people’s homes. It doesn’t scratch if you are gentle and keep it wet.” Amy noted.

Even Martha Stewart recommended using a pumice stone for oven cleaning because it can “cut through greasy deposits on stove grates.”

Amy added that she uses “ZEP Purple Degreaser” as the cleaning agent for a more thorough clean. But for lighter jobs, soap and water can do the trick.

‘I cleaned my whole oven in 20 minutes’

Commenters who tried the pumice stone were amazed at how well it worked.

“I’m living on my own for the first time and I literally struggled with this soooo much, thank you,” wrote @andreaaceves99.

“Girl! wow! I cleaned my whole oven in 20 minutes! it was easy and fast and worked perfectly,” added @amyhiddenshoes1.

“What a brilliant idea and it works like a charm. Thank you so much I cleaned the oven glass none of the TikTok hacks did the job but yours!!!!” claimed @jakuszee.
