Professional women's hockey at Gutterson: How to watch, buy tickets for Oct. 23 exhibition

Professional women's hockey is coming to Gutterson Fieldhouse on Sunday.

The University of Vermont is hosting a Premier Hockey Federation exhibition game between the Boston Pride and the Montreal Force, which will feature three players with ties to the Green Mountain State.

The Pride are the defending Isobel Cup champions. Former UVM women's hockey standouts Kristina Shanahan and Alyssa Holmes headline the Force, an expansion club playing for the first time. Colchester native Sally Hoerr, of Liberty University, is also a member of the Force.

The puck will drop at 3 p.m.

"We are thrilled to host the PHF at Gutterson this year," UVM coach Jim Plumer said in news release. "Our community has a rich history of supporting women's hockey and it's a great opportunity for our fans to experience professional women's hockey for the first time and to welcome back former Catamounts Kristina Shanahan and Alyssa Holmes to the Gut."

The PHF is the home of professional women's hockey in North America. It was first established in 2015 as the National Women's Hockey League before rebranded as PHF last year. The league consists of seven teams: Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale, Metropolitan Riveters, Minnesota Whitecaps, Montreal Force and the Toronto Six.
