Project Pat, Duke Deuce, Hitkidd to headline TONE's Juneteenth Family Reunion Weekend

TONE has announced the music lineup for its Juneteenth Festival and it has some familiar Memphis musicians on it.

Project Pat, Duke Deuce and Hitkidd will headline the free festival June 18 with other local artists in the mix including Lukah, Talibah Safiya, Mafia 9 and Austin Crui$e.

The festival will take place at the Orange Mound Tower, 2205 Lamar Ave., as part of a weekend of Juneteenth celebrations by TONE, a local organization uplifting Black communities and creatives.

"The 2023 Juneteenth Festival is coming harder than before," TONE's website states. "Think of it like this: Black vendors. Black food. Black performers. Black games. Black joy. Black experiences in Black spaces."

The Juneteenth Family Reunion Weekend, hosted by TONE, celebrates Black ancestry and June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, were officially told they had been freed by President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation two years prior.

Festivities will begin on June 17 at The Cadre Building, 149 Monroe Ave., with a gala and after-party themed B.A.P.S., "Black American Princesses’ Slaying" and "Black American Princes’ Serving," according to the TONE website.

"Our GALA gives us the opportunity to toast it up and cheers to the future of Black creatives," TONE's invite reads. "While also, raising money to accomplish the goals we’ve set for TONE and our plans for the Orange Mound Tower."

The June 17 gala begins at 6:30 p.m., and the after-party starts at 9 p.m. and lasts until midnight. The June 18 festival starts at 3 p.m. and goes until midnight.

Festival tickets are free but the gala and after-party tickets range from $50-$150.
