ProMedica closing Monroe Eye Care
ProMedica Physicians Eye Care of Monroe, 1180 N. Monroe St., is closing Nov. 29.
“The last patients will be seen on Nov. 29,” ProMedica said in a written statement. “The decision to close the location was multifactorial and aligned with the end of the facility lease. ProMedica is in the process of notifying patients, including mailing letters with additional information.”
The closure only applies to ProMedica Physicians Eye Care’s Monroe office. All other ProMedica physician practices and facilities in Monroe will remain open.
Other area ProMedica eye care locations are: ProMedica Physicians Eye Care of Sylvania at 5700 Monroe St., Unit 211, in Sylvania, Ohio, and ProMedica Physicians Vision Associates of Toledo at 3330 Meijer Drive, Suite 1, in Toledo.
“Patients will have the option to continue seeing their existing ProMedica provider if they are willing and able to travel to the Toledo area. Otherwise, they are being encouraged to consult with their insurance companies to identify new suitable vision care providers in the Monroe area,” ProMedica said in the statement.
The physicians who worked part-time at the Monroe location will work for other ProMedica locations.

“ProMedica is working with the other office staff members to try and identify suitable employment opportunities for them at different locations within the health system, if appropriate,” ProMedica said.
The ProMedica Physicians Eye Care of Monroe was once called Reed Vision Associates and was operated by Monroe’s Dr. Stephen Reed before becoming a ProMedica provider.
