ProMedica Coldwater again rated 'A' for safety in national survey

COLDWATER — For the fourth consecutive six-month evaluation, ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital received an “A” rating from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.

“We could not be more proud of our team as we are one of only 24 hospitals in Michigan to receive this ‘A’ grade," said Daniel Schwanke, ProMedica site administrator.

That places ProMedica Coldwater in the top 29% of the 83 hospitals in the state.

Last spring, only 22 of then 88 hospitals rated in the state received an “A.”

The “Hospital Safety Grade” from Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures.

These measures reflect errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

Nationally, Michigan ranked 23rd in patient safety in this fall 2023 report, up from 24th last spring.
