Proposed California bill would allow bars, restaurants to deliver to-go cocktails

A lawmaker has introduced a bill that he said would help bars and restaurants hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, opponents argue that it is a threat to public health and safety. Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, introduced Senate Bill 846 on Thursday, which would allow bars and restaurants to deliver alcohol to-go. He proposed something similar last year, but it was amended before passing. As a result, the law currently only allows for pick-up orders of alcohol if food is included too. "Last year when the bill came up, it went to Appropriations [Committee] in the Assembly and those provisions were cut out," Dodd explained.
