Proposed plan to renovate dam in Pueblo

A dangerous part of the Arkansas River in Pueblo is going to be made safer. Pueblo Water has a plan in the works to reconstruct the southside diversion dam behind city park. The group says this has been the site of multiple drownings over the past couple of years. Pueblo Water is asking for $350,000 a piece from Pueblo City and County Governments along with the Pueblo Conservancy District. One of the goals is to make activities safer in the water. Overall the project will cost about $11 million. Pueblo Water will be looking for grants also. The group hopes to start work on the dam by late 2023.
