Prosecutors allege ex-Stockton officer charged with sexual assault broke house arrest

For almost a year, an ex-Stockton police sergeant facing sexual assault charges has been out of jail on house arrest.

Now, prosecutors allege the former officer, 43-year-old Nicholas Bloed, frequently violated his house arrest by visiting several locations in Stockton and Sacramento over the past six months.

"The defendant has violated the court's bail conditions at least eleven times," Deputy District Attorney Carrie Lawrence said in a motion filed in court Dec. 1.

"Even just one violation would constitute good cause to remand (Bloed to jail)."

"The DA's office is in error," Bloed's attorney, Allen Sawyer, said Monday.

"All those visits to the store were authorized and approved by his probation officer."

Bloed was arrested in November 2022 and charged with rape and abuse while on duty.

That winter, a judge released Bloed on $1 million bail and put him under house arrest with exceptions for medical appointments and attorney meetings.

In June, Bloed asked a judge to loosen his bail restrictions so he could work as an electrician in Atwater, in Merced County. The judge denied his request.

In documents filed Friday, prosecutors claimed Bloed had visited the Raley's on East Morada Lane numerous times between May 15 and Nov. 13.

The location information prosecutors cited came from Stockton police detectives' search of data transmitted from Bloed's ankle bracelet, the court documents stated.

In September, the ex-officer allegedly spent several hours in downtown Sacramento, prosecutors said. The address given was located near Sawyer's Sacramento office.

In October, prosecutors claim, Bloed spent roughly a day near Harvard Street and Arden Way in Point West. It's unclear what he may have been doing in the area.

Sawyer maintains all of Bloed's trips were approved by his probation officer.

A Monday meeting to set Bloed's trial date was rescheduled for Friday, according to Sawyer.
