Prosecutors in Arbery related hate-crimes case receive award

Feb. 2—Federal prosecutors who secured guilty verdicts hate crimes for the three men convicted of shooting and killing Ahmaud Arbery in 2020 were awarded this week for their work on the case.

United States Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday presented Southern District of Georgia First Assistant U.S. Attorney Tara M. Lyons, paralegal Tracy Long and Victim Witness Coordinators Kellie Wiggins and Iverna Campbell with the 70th Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service. They were recognized along with nine staff members from the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their investigation and the prosecution of Gregory McMichael, Travis McMichael and William "Roddie" Bryan.
