Prosecutors say atrocities in Kharkiv Oblast could rival those seen in Kyiv suburbs
Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin said that after the liberation of Ukrainian territories, a terrible picture of what the invaders did has emerged – especially in Kharkiv Oblast.

“In fact, cities such as Balakliya and Izyum are on a par with Bucha, Borodyanka and Irpin,” he said.
According to him, mobile investigative and prosecutorial groups were created to increase the effectiveness of the investigation of the numerous war crimes.

“The combination of specialists from different areas and their coordinated actions will allow us to better investigate military and other international crimes,” Kostin said.
Twenty-three such mobile investigative and prosecutorial groups will work in Kharkiv Oblast. The structure will include employees of the prosecutor's office, the SBU (Ukrainian security service), the National Police, explosives experts, and others. They will conduct reviews of destroyed civilian infrastructure and the killings of local residents.
In addition, five special groups have been formed to deal exclusively with cases of the torture of local residents, as well as searching for the location of headquarters or command posts of the Russian military in the liberated territories.

In Kharkiv Oblast, the Ukrainian military managed to liberate about 40 settlements, including Balakliya, Kupyansk and Izyum. On Sept. 11, the flag of Ukraine appeared over Volchansk. The settlement is located three kilometers from the Russian border.
