Prospect man dies in I-265 car crash

A man who was killed Sunday when his car flipped after going off Interstate 265 has been identified as Richard Reid.

Reid, 48, of Prospect, was traveling north on the Snyder when his car veered off the road and went up an embankment between the Smyrna and Beulah Church road exits. He was killed due to the blunt force of the accident according to Jeff Wheeler, deputy coroner for the Jefferson County Coroner's office.

Police were notified about the collision about 3:45 a.m. and they found that Reid was not wearing a seatbelt, which led to him being ejected from the car, which flipped several times.
