'Protect New Zealand and the Whole World From Such Calamities,' Imam Says in New Zealand Parliament

An imam opened the New Zealand Parliament with a prayer on Monday, March 19, in the first parliamentary session since the deadly mosque shootings in Christchurch.

The prayer, said in Arabic by Imam Nizam ul haq Thanvi, was repeated in English by Tahir Nawaz. It asked to grant “patience and hope” to the families affected by the tragedy, and “protect New Zealand and the whole world from such calamities.”
