Protesters Gather in Minneapolis as Derek Chauvin Jury Selection Delayed

Crowds gathered near the Hennepin County Courthouse in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Monday, March 8, ahead of the trial for Derek Chauvin, the former police officer accused of killing George Floyd.

Jury selection for Chauvin’s trial was set to begin on Monday, but it was delayed for “at least a day.” The trial was delayed as officials determine if a third-degree murder charge can be added to Chauvin’s other charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
