A crowd marched over the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City to commemorate the first anniversary of George Floyd’s death on May 25.

Floyd was killed by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in May 2020, setting off a wave of racial justice protests nationwide. Chauvin was convicted of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, in April 2021 and was due to be sentenced in June.
