Protesters Pack Steps of Vancouver Art Gallery in Solidarity With Iranian People

Protesters marched in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Sunday, September 25, in solidarity with the people of Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini, an Iranian woman who was detained by the country’s morality police and died in custody.

Video filmed by Instagram user @arennour shows demonstrators crowded around the steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery on Sunday.

On Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced sanctions on Iranian entities including the morality police, local news reported.

The United States issued sanctions against Iran’s morality police on September 22 “for abuse and violence against Iranian women and the violation of the rights of peaceful Iranian protestors.”

At least 41 people, including demonstrators and security forces, have been killed in Iran since the nationwide protests began, Alarabiya reported. Credit: @arennour via Storyful
