Protesting lawmakers yanked from Hong Kong legislature
Hong Kong passed a bill on Thursday (June 4) that would criminalize disrespect of China's national anthem, a move opponents see as the latest sign of Beijing's tightening grip there.
The disruption in the legislature came after pro-establishment lawmakers vetoed most amendments to the law proposed by democrats.
It also came after the legislature's president denied a request for a moment of silence for the Tiananmen Square crackdown, of which Thursday is its 31st anniversary.
Some lawmakers stood in silence anyway and then exited the chamber in protest.
