Protests erupt in Iran in response to death of woman in morality police custody

Protests continue for the 7th day in Iran in response to the death of a 22-year-old woman while she was in the custody of Iran’s morality police. Women in Iran are cutting their hair and burning their hijabs in protest. Deputy Director of the Center of Human Rights in Iran Jasmin Ramsey says, “women taking their hijabs off and standing side-by side with men calling for this compulsory hijab rule to be lifted because it is used as an excuse to repress women.”
