Providence Journal now accepting donations for 51st annual Summertime Fund

The Providence Journal’s Summertime Fund is now accepting donations to send needy Rhode Island children to camp.

“Last year, hundreds of donors contributed over $60,000 to give disadvantaged youngsters the opportunity to build friendships, learn life skills and experience the joy of summer camp. Through your generosity, we can make 2023 another unforgettable summer for children throughout Rhode Island,” said Lynne Sullivan, regional executive editor of the Providence Journal.

The Summertime Fund has sent thousands of youngsters to camp since The Providence Journal launched it in 1972. Administered by the Rhode Island Foundation, the fund relies on donations from individuals – some made as family remembrances or in lieu of personal gifts – as well as corporate contributions.

“We are delighted to work with the Providence Journal and generous donors to make summer camp possible for so many children. Our hope is they return home energized and inspired by their experience,” said David N. Cicilline, president and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation.
