Provincial Disaster Declared in KwaZulu-Natal Amid Deadly Flooding

The South African government declared a provincial disaster for KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday, April 14, with local news outlets reporting that over 300 people have died.

Eyewitness News said clean-up operations were under way on Thursday morning. The South African Weather Service forecast that rain would continue through the weekend.

On Wednesday, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited areas affected by the flooding, and met with residents to offer support for those affected.
