Prue Leith has shed light on what it was like filming with David Schwimmer on The Great Celebrity Bake Off special for Stand Up to Cancer.

The baking judge didn’t exactly get the experience she had hoped in making friends with Schwimmer, 56, as she revealed the actor “didn’t want to talk to anybody” in the Bake Off tent.

Leith, 83, revealed to The Mirror: “Well, he must have been the most famous person we had in the tent. And I was very excited about it.

“What I was surprised about, though, was I thought he’d behave like he behaved as Ross, he’d be like he was in Friends, but he was actually very concentrated and didn’t want to talk to anybody.

“He just wanted to get on baking and he badly wanted to win. He loosened up after a while.”

Schwimmer appears on Celebrity Bake Off along with a host of famous names as the new series begins on Sunday March 19 at 7:45pm on Channel 4.

The Friends star will compete for the title of Star Baker against Jesy Nelson, AJ Odudu, Judi Love, Coleen Nolan, Tom Daley, Paddy McGuinness and several more stars, in aid of the Stand Up to Cancer charity.

Schwimmer recently opened up about his personal reasons for participating in the show, sharing that his grandma and ex-wife’s mother died from cancer, and his sister Ellie also battled the disease.

“I lost a grandmother to cancer, my daughter lost a grandmother to cancer and my sister is a cancer survivor, so it’s important to me,” Schwimmer told The Mirror.

“I am just grateful I can help in any small way raise more awareness.

“I am here to have fun. I am here to raise money for a great charity. It’s a great cause and I happen to be a massive fan of the show.”

Schwimmer married ex-wife Zoë Buckman in 2010 and the pair divorced in 2017. The former couple share a daughter named Cleo, 11.

As the new series of Celebrity Bake Off returns on Sunday, so will judges Leith and Paul Hollywood, along with hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas, in his final appearance on the show.
