PS5 stock UK - live: Tracking today’s restocks from Game, John Lewis, Currys and more

Will this finally be the day you secure a console? (The Independent)
Will this finally be the day you secure a console? (The Independent)

Update: Currys, Smyths Toys, John Lewis & Partners and Asda have yet to drop stock this month. Could they restock before February? Read on for more information.

2022 looks to be one of the most promising years for PS5 gamers, with upcoming titles such as Elden Ring, Sifu, Horizon: Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and maybe even the PS5 VR2 headset coming in the next few months. But what of the PS5 itself?

Well, we’re sad to say that customers are still struggling to get their hands on a PS5 console due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage, which has had a big impact on supply chains for over a year now.

Sony’s Playstation 5 was released in November 2020 and even though we’re now in 2022, demand for the console is still high. January has been one of the slowest months for restocks on record, but we have seen a handful of restocks from PlayStation Direct, Game, BT , Amazon, Very and AO, indicating that things are starting to pick up again.

Our liveblog is here to get you one of Sony’s elusive next-gen consoles, as well as provide you with the details on the best games and accessories to grab alongside your new console. If you want to find out which online retailers will be the first to restock, then keep scrolling to receive updates as they happen.

Gee, Brain, what are we going to write in our closing post tonight?

The same thing we write every night, Pinky.

There have been no stock drops this week.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart' PS5 review

15:55 , Alex Lee

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is one of our favourite games of 2021 and won a spot in our round-up of the best PS5 games.

“Rift Apart has charm to burn, in its character design, lively combat mechanics, and explorable levels that feel large without seeming maze-like, busy without being cluttered,” our writer said in their review. “This is one of the best looks yet at what the new console generation has to offer. It’s big, it’s bright, and it’s almost impossible not to love”.

Currys is currently selling it for £59.99 – most places have it available for £69.99.

‘Lego Star Wars’ PS5 release date

15:05 , Alex Lee

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was first announced all the way back in 2019 to coincide with the release of the upcoming Rise of Skywalker film, but as we’ve come to expect from video games these days, due to frequent delays it was pushed back again and again and again.

But thankfully, on 20 January 2022, a new trailer was released. And in it, we received confirmation that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would be launching on Tuesday 5 April 2022.

Why is the PS5 digital edition harder to find than the disc edition?

14:15 , Alex Lee

If you’ve been following our stock updates for a while, you’ve probably noticed that the PS5 disc edition console is far easier to buy than the digital edition, with the digital console usually selling out in minutes.

It’s been this way ever since the console was first released back in November. When Eurogamer spoke to sources at various retailers before the console launched, it was told that retailers had been allocated around 25 per cent digital edition consoles and 75 per cent disc edition consoles.

We don’t know if the situation has changed since then, but we still see fewer digital edition consoles dropping than disc edition consoles. Retailers themselves might also prefer to order in the disc edition console over digital – they cost more (£449.99) for one, and they can bundle it with physical games to charge a premium.

Even though Sony built a lighter PS5 console, it still seems like the digital edition is harder to find than the disc.

The mystery over a new, lighter version of the PS5 has finally been solved

On the hunt for an Xbox series X?

‘Horizon Forbidden West' is going to take up a lot of your PS5 storage

12:35 , Alex Lee

We’re not exaggerating when we say that next-generation games for the PS5 and Xbox series X consoles are massive. They often take up a huge amount of storage space, which can be a problem for the PS5 digital edition (and Xbox series S), due to it not having a disc drive, so entire games have to be downloaded and installed on the console itself.

We bring this up because it looks like the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West game will take up between 86GB and 120GB of storage – that’s almost an eighth of the PS5’s entire storage supply.

That’s why we recommend getting an SSD like the one in the post below. If you’re still intrigued about the game itself, have a read of our explainer:

Everything we know about ‘Horizon Forbidden West’ so far

PS5 storage expansion

11:45 , Alex Lee

 (Seagate)
(Seagate)

Gamers can now expand their PlayStation 5’s internal storage with the installation of an M.2 SSD. If you’re looking to expand your PS5’s storage, then we recommend the Seagate firecuda 530, which comes with a heatsink. It costs £175 (Currys.co.uk).

“A cooling structure, like a heatsink, is something all PS5-compatible SSDs require in order to work correctly, and it’s nice that you don’t have to do a hatchet jot of installing your own with this Seagate model,” our writer said in their review. “The firecuda 530 lets you conveniently download, copy and launch PS5 and PS4 games straight from the internal storage, as well as media apps like Plex. Transfer speeds are blazing fast as well, with Seagate saying that it delivers speeds of up to 7,000MB/s.”

Haven’t managed to pick up Fifa 22 on the PS5 yet? Now’s your chance! The newest entry in the Fifa franchise is here, complete with the integration of HyperMotion technology, making the beautiful game look more realistic than ever before. Plus, there’s new in-game mechanics like explosive sprint, and a new goalkeeper system. Currys is currently bundling the game with a midnight black PS5 dualsense controller for £119. All other retailers are selling this bundle for £129.

Amazon is selling this bundle with the white dualsense controller for even less (Was £129.98, now £104.98, Amazon.co.uk). It’s temporarily out of stock, but you can still place and order now and the retailer will dispatch it as soon as it’s ready.

Smyths Toys PS5 stock predictions

10:40 , Alex Lee

 (iStock/Independent)
(iStock/Independent)

Smyths Toys is another retailer which hasn’t had a restock at all this month. According to the retailer’s website, it expects more consoles to be made available sometime in February, but take this with a pinch of salt.

That message is usually a placeholder and changes frequently. It also doesn’t take into account in-store restocks, meaning that if an in-store restock takes place, the website won’t be updated to reflect it.

We’re often relying on the @PS5StockAlertUK Twitter account to leak Smyths Toys restock dates thanks to the leaker’s insider knowledge. If it does drop, then it will likely be in-store, with doors opening up for pre-orders at around 8am. It’s dropped every single day of the week in the past – except weekends - so the next drop is anyone’s guess.

Best PS5 games

10:10 , Alex Lee

Even if you haven’t managed to buy a PS5 just yet, there’s no harm in a little a window shopping. You’re probably going to want to buy some games to go with your new machine either way. We’ve got a round-up of the best PS5 games for you to peruse.

In the bestselling Spider-Man: Miles Morales game (£44.99, Currys.co.uk), Peter Parker is replaced with his awkward teenage protégé, Miles Morales. A next-generation spin-off, Spider-Man: Miles Morales refines the original’s formula,” our reviewer said. “This is a streamlined adventure with a more focused story, far less busy work and an endearingly clumsy protagonist still getting to grips with his powers.”

Meanwhile, Demon’s Souls (£57.99, Currys.co.uk) on PS5 is a showcase of what the new console is capable of. “The oppressive gothic architecture, yawning arches and festering dungeons of this cult classic look spectacular on the new hardware, while remaining faultlessly faithful to the aesthetic and vibe of the original game,” our tester said.

Could Currys PS5 stock drop this month?

09:47 , Alex Lee

 (iStock/Independent)
(iStock/Independent)

We used to loathe Currys drops because they were simply too exclusive for their own good. Consoles were reserved exclusively for those who had signed up to the VIP pass draw system. The problem? It closed to new entrants in June but the retailer was still sending codes out to people all the way up until December.

Last month, the retailer stopped sending codes out altogether (probably because there was no one left on the email list to send codes to) and began dropping stock for the general public, the same as everyone else.

It had a mammoth seven restocks last month and one final code restock on 2 December. Weirdly, since its last restock on 28 December, no restocks at Currys have taken place. Let’s hope that changes today. It seemed to favour Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, so tomorrow might be more of a possibility.

When was the last John Lewis PS5 restock?

09:32 , Alex Lee

 (Independent/iStock)
(Independent/iStock)

Next up: John Lewis & Partners! Though we should warn you that it’s not a retailer to rely on. Drops take place roughly once every one to two months. The most recent restock took place on Wednesday 29 December. And before that, it restocked on Wednesday 3 November.

To make matters worse, we rarely ever see drops at John Lewis last longer than five minutes so even if you do catch a drop, checking out with it in your basket is a totally different story.

The retailer does always drop at 7am however, so it’s reliable in that regard. Could it drop before February? The chances are pretty slim, but we’ll never say never.

How to get a PS5 in-store at Game

09:17 , Alex Lee

Getting a standalone PS5 console from Game is hard, but not impossible. All the regional Game stores have their own Twitter account and are compiled into this handy Twitter list.

Basically, whenever the PS5 is in stock at one of them, the account drops a tweet to let you all know. The latest restock tweet was from Game Salisbury, and that was 16 hours ago, so we’ve got no idea if stock is still available at that specific branch. Worth a look though.

Game PS5 stock could drop next week

09:02 , Alex Lee

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

There’s a good chance that the PS5 could drop at Game next week or the week after. The retailer updated its PS5 bundles page with new release dates of 18 February. This hints that another restock could happen in early February.

Drops at the retailer usually take place one to two weeks before the stated release date, so we could see a drop between either 1-3 February or 8-10 February next week. So there shouldn’t be long left to wait now.

Game has a huge number of bundles available but rarely sells the console online as a standalone purchase. You’ll have to go in-store if you want one of those.

PS Plus February 2022

08:45 , Alex Lee

Before we get started with the stock tracking, the free PS4 and PS5 games in February for PS Plus subscribers have been announced and, uh,they don’t look the best, if we’re honest.

The games didn’t leak ahead of time this month and perhaps that’s because the free ones that have been announced aren’t stellar. The PS5 game on offer is the themepark builder Planet Coaster: Console Edition, which weirdly has a PS4 release but this isn’t also free.

On the PS4 front, you’ve got the Borderlands-inspired Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure as well as mixed martial arts fighting gameEA Sports UFC 4 . Unsurprisingly, none of these games appear on our best PS4 games or PS5 games round-ups.

Who could restock the PS5 today?

08:26 , Alex Lee

Goooood morning PS5 hunters and welcome back to another day of PS5 stock tracking action. So, it’s been a deafeningly quiet week for restocks with not a single drop in sight.

With four major retailers still yet to restock in January and a handful of independents, we’re not losing hope. Who do we still have our lasers pointed at? Currys, Smyths Toys, John Lewis & Partners and Asda, of course. Stick around and we’ll take you through every drop and prediction we have up under our sleeve.

PS5 stock trackers, signing off

Wednesday 26 January 2022 16:57 , Alex Lee

All right everyone, guess what? It’s been another day without a drop, cementing this month as one of the worst for restocks on record. But we’re not losing hope any time soon!

While there hasn’t been a restock today, retailers still have five days left of January to turn things around. If you’re still hunting for the elusive console or if you just enjoy our company, then we’ll be back here tomorrow to do even more stock tracking. Bye for now!

This new PS5 feature is finally rolling out

Wednesday 26 January 2022 15:50 , Alex Lee

Being able to access screenshots and videos that you’ve captured on your PS5 from your smartphone has long been a feature promised by Sony. And now it seems like it’s slowly rolling out.

So far, we’ve only seen a select few people gain access to this feature – mainly from the US, but we’ll let you know if it rolls out more widely.

When was the last ShopTo PS5 restock?

Wednesday 26 January 2022 15:00 , Alex Lee

Electronics specialist ShopTo had two drops in December, making it the best independent store to buy a PS5 from last month. That said, it hasn’t restocked at all in January, and a lot of people like ShopTo restocks because they always take place on the weekend.

Bizarrely, ShopTo tweeted a restock announcement on 30 December, but it quickly deleted the tweet before most people could see it. We thought that this meant that a restock was about to take place, but nada – we didn’t get a thing. Thankfully, the folks over on the @PS5UKStock Discord server grabbed a screenshot before it was deleted. Could it restock this weekend? We’ll have to wait and see.

PS Plus games February 2022

Wednesday 26 January 2022 14:54 , Alex Lee

This has to be one of the first months where the PS Plus games haven’t leaked ahead of time. Usually we know what free games subscribers will be getting at least a week before they’re announced, but nope, not this time. We’ve heard nothing.

We don’t have long left to wait though. The free games for PS Plus subscribers for the PS4 and PS5 games are expected to be unveiled today at 4.30pm. Let’s hope they’re good!

On the hunt for an Xbox series X?

Wednesday 26 January 2022 14:10 , Alex Lee

‘Gran Turismo 7’ PS5

Wednesday 26 January 2022 13:20 , Alex Lee

It’s the 25th anniversary of the Gran Turismo series, and Polyphony Studios is planning on bringing previous elements from its flagship racing sim to both the PS4 and PS5 in the biggest entry to the series yet.

Announced on 9 September 2021, Gran Turismo 7 is scheduled to launch on 4 March 2022 on both the PS4 and PS5 consoles. There will be 420 drivable cars available from launch day, as well as over 90 track routes across the globe to race on, with some favourites from the series set to make a return. ‘Horizon Zero Dawn’ PS5

Wednesday 26 January 2022 11:40 , Alex Lee

If you simply can’t wait for Horizon Forbidden West to come out later this year on the PS5, then you’ll be pleased to know that Horizon Zero Dawn has a PS5 upgrade that you’ll absolutely love.

While nothing has really changed content-wise, you’re still getting a glorious 60fps experience for free, and it’s a great way to kill time before Horizon Forbidden West releases in February.

PS5 price

Wednesday 26 January 2022 11:10 , Alex Lee

As we’re sure you are all well aware by now, Sony makes two versions of the PlayStation 5. The PS5 digital edition is priced at £349.99, while the regular PS5, which includes a disc drive, costs £449.99. The latter is the same as the Xbox series X, while the less powerful Xbox series S (which also lacks a disc drive) undercuts the digital PS5, at £249. Do note though that the series S is considerably less stacked in processing power compared to the digital edition PS5.

But many retailers, including Game, Very, Argos, ShopTo and Ace Studio, like to sell their PS5 stock in bundles. This often means spending more but getting extras like a second controller, a selection of games and other accessories. Bundles tend to be easier to get hold of, but you’ll end up spending more money than when buying the console on its own. It does help stop scalpers though.

When will Game have more PS5 stock?

Wednesday 26 January 2022 10:45 , Alex Lee

Both versions of the PS5 console are currently out of stock at Game. But if the retailer’s recent restocking schedule is anything to go by, we shouldn’t have too much longer to wait.

The last restock at Game took place on 18 and 19 January. There were a large number of console bundles available. The retailer updates its PS5 bundles page with new release dates every few weeks, so we’ll keep our eyes on that page and let you know if we get a new release date.

How to buy a colourful faceplate for your PS5

Wednesday 26 January 2022 10:20 , Alex Lee

Fancy giving your PS5 a bit of a makeover? Well now you can, thanks to a set of colourful new faceplates offered by Sony. The first couple of colour options, midnight black and cosmic red, landed ahead of schedule late last week. They are both priced at £44.99 and are available exclusively from Sony’s own PlayStation Direct store. until arriving at other retailers from 17 February.

Three more console covers, with colours called nova pink, starlight blue and galactic purple, will be available later in 2022. Dual sense controllers are also available in these five colours, as well as black and white.

Let’s get you a PS5

Wednesday 26 January 2022 08:35 , Alex Lee

Goooood morning PS5 hunters and welcome back to The Independent’s PS5 stock tracking liveblog. Our mission? To get you one of Sony’s next-gen consoles.

Although it feels like we’re wading through the Saharan Desert right now with this extended PS5 drought, we’re hoping more consoles could drop today, with four major retailers left to restock this month. Ready to get going? Let’s go get a PS5.

G’night from your PS5 stock trackers

Tuesday 25 January 2022 16:59 , Alex Lee

It’s been another ghostly quiet day here on the blog with – let’s just tot up the numbers – oh, yeah, zero drops. January hasn’t been a pretty great month for restocks, has it?

But don’t lose hope! There are still six more days of PS5 stock tracking action to get through this month, so we’ve still got time for a retailer to pull some consoles out of the bag.

We’re signing off for the evening but we’ll be back here tomorrow for some more good ol’ PS5 hunting. Catch you all then!

PS5 vs Xbox series X

Tuesday 25 January 2022 15:15 , Alex Lee

Stuck on which console to choose? The Independent’s technology editor, Andrew Griffin, weighed in with his comparative review of both consoles when they were first released, and it’s well worth a read if you’re struggling to decide.

“Both consoles offer a host of improvements on their predecessors: new designs, vastly improved performance, and new games”, he said. To find out his verdict, read his review of the PS5 and Xbox series X.

PS5 vs Xbox series X: Which console is better?

‘Dying Light 2’ details

Tuesday 25 January 2022 14:25 , Alex Lee

Zombie fans, Dying Light 2 is nearly here! The game is already available to pre-order for £59.99 (Amazon.co.uk), the more exciting bit of news is that fresh content is going to be coming your way for at least five whole years.

The game appears to be pretty open world, with a major emphasis on wall climbing and parkour, so expect to see a bunch of side quests post-release.

Should you buy a PS5 from CeX?

Tuesday 25 January 2022 11:25 , Alex Lee

Ah CeX, the butt of playground jokes and childhood second-hand game nostalgia. While we think fondly of CeX, we’d recommend not buying a PS5 from the retailer.

Why? Because you’ll be paying out the wazoo for a standalone disc edition console, with the retailer currently selling it for £650. The console usually costs around £449, so you’re better off waiting for Amazon or Very to restock the console than buying it for £200 extra. That’s scalper territory, if you ask us.

Could Asda PS5 stock drop this week?

Tuesday 25 January 2022 10:25 , Alex Lee

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

And finally Asda, arguably the most annoying retailer out of the four stores yet to drop stock. Like a bratty little brother who nicks your ice cream just after you’ve bought it.

The retailer’s website is incredibly glitchy. It doesn’t always show the console is in stock even if it is, and sometimes it won’t let you add the console to your basket from the product page. You have to add it to your wish list and check out from there. It’s a right old pain.

Worse, restocks usually only last around 5-10 minutes, so by the time you’ve done all that, it’s all gone. It last dropped stock on Wednesday 22 December. We could see another drop this month, however, because Asda has consistently dropped once a month since the PS5 first came out. Give us our ice cream.

Which retailers have yet to restock the PS5 in January?

Tuesday 25 January 2022 09:00 , Alex Lee

Most of the big retailers dropped their horde of stock last week, including Very, Argos, AO , Game and Amazon. But who has yet to drop in January?

There are four major retailers who haven’t yet had a restock this month. They are Currys, Smyths Toys, John Lewis & Partners and Asda. Could they drop today or this week? We’ll be walking you through our predictions for each retailer throughout the day. Stay tuned.

When was the last Very PS5 restock?

Tuesday 25 January 2022 08:45 , Alex Lee

 (The Independent)
(The Independent)

Last week! In what was arguably the busiest week for restocks this month. Very’s restock on 18 January lasted a whole five hours, with sister retailer Littlewoods lasting just as long. We don’t expect either of the retailers to drop today, even though Tuesday is usually their day for restocking. Gotta love a Tuesday, eh?

The retailer usually drops stock once a month, so another drop probably won’t happen until early February. We’ll keep our eyes peeled because a surprise drop is never off the cards.

Good morning!

Tuesday 25 January 2022 08:30 , Alex Lee

Morning everyone and welcome back to the PS5 stock tracking liveblog. On the hunt for a PS5? This is the only liveblog you’ll ever need if you want to bag yourself a PS5 today.

Yesterday, we spotted some PS5 consoles still available at specific regional branches of Argos, but these appear to have sold out now. Still searching? We’ll be here providing you with all the restock updates and predictions you’ll need to cop yourself a next-gen console. Let’s go huntin’.

Live blog signing off

Monday 24 January 2022 17:00 , Alistair Charlton

Looks like we could be in for another quiet week, folks. After what seemed like just a handful of consoles at some Argos locations disappeared this morning, it was a very quiet day for PS5 hunting. But we’re an optimistic bunch and remain hopeful that more consoles will land before the end of January.

We’ll see you all again tomorrow for another day of PS5 hunting.

How big is the PS5?

Monday 24 January 2022 16:04 , Alistair Charlton

Not as strange a question as you might think, because the PS5 is massive. It’s often an easy joke to say how big the next generation of game consoles are, ever since the chunky original Xbox arrived, followed by the even bigger PS4.

But, while the Xbox series X is also rather large, it’s the PS5 that is least likely to fit under your television. The digital edition is slightly slimmer, due to not having a disc drive, but both consoles are equally tall when stood on end.

They are 390mm tall and 260mm deep, while the disc edition is 104mm thick and the digital edition is 92mm. Both consoles are intended to be stood upright, but also come with a plastic stand to help them rest on their side – likely the only way most buyers will fit the console under their TV.

How to get a PS5 voucher code from BT

Monday 24 January 2022 15:30 , Alistair Charlton

BT is giving its customers a helping hand when it comes to securing a PS5. Instead of throwing open the virtual doors and dealing with a stampede like other retailers, BT sends out unique voucher codes to its customers.

If you are a BT TV customer, for example, or subscribe to BT Sport, you can apply to receive a PS5 voucher code. These are emailed out sporadically and can be used to access a PS5 next time the BT store has a restock. You still have to pay the regular price, of course, but this system is a neat way of rewarding BT customers and giving them a better chance of securing a console.

If handheld gaming is more your thing then check out our review of the new Nintendo Switch OLED. The console features an OLED display for the first time, which is larger than before and produces punchier colours and deeper blacks. There’s also a redesigned kickstand and double the internal storage of its predecessor.

Our reviewer said of the £309.99 console: “The larger display is fantastic and playing games in handheld mode is an absolute joy. The kickstand feels so solid and makes us never want to look at that little toggle on the back of the original Switch ever again...this is absolutely the best version of the console yet.”

Can you play PS4 games on PS5?

Monday 24 January 2022 13:01 , Alistair Charlton

You sure can! The overwhelming majority of the PS4 games you own are playable on the PS5. You’ll be able to download any games you bought through the PlayStation store on your PS4 and play them on the next-gen console.

If you’ve got the disc edition of the PS5, you’ll also be able to insert your PS4 discs into it and play them that way, too. Obviously, because there’s no physical disc slot on the digital edition of the console, you won’t be able to play any PS4 discs you own. We’ve compiled together a list of our favourite PS4 games, and most of them have dropped in price since the PS5 came out.

Can you buy a PS5 on the high street?

Monday 24 January 2022 12:29 , Alistair Charlton

Yes and no. Some shops have occasional PS5 stock available for walk-in customers to buy, but there have been very few consoles available so far this year. Your best options are Game and Smyths. The former has a Twitter account for each of its shops, used to tweet about when PS5 (and Xbox series X) stock becomes available. For your best chance of spotting a console at your local store, use this Twitter list to view every tweet from all of Game’s shops across the UK.

As for Smyths Toys, the retailer has a tool on its website for checking stock at all of its stores, We occasionally see the odd console crop up here, but for now there’s no PS5 stock anywhere in the UK.

When did Very last have a PS5 restock?

Monday 24 January 2022 12:01 , Alistair Charlton

Very is one of the few retailers to have had a PS5 restock in 2022, with consoles landing on 18 January. This was the first drop since 15 December, so was a long time coming, and there’s no word for now on when more PS5s might arrive at the online retailer.

Can you buy a PS5 from AO?

Monday 24 January 2022 10:36 , Alistair Charlton

AO is another one of the few retailers to have had PS5 stock available in 2022. In fact, AO had a bundle restock on 5 January, followed the next day by a short restock of consoles on their own. As expected, these quickly sold out and we haven’t seen any more stock at AO since. The retailer’s website currently says no consoles are available, with no indication of when more will arrive.

Argos is now sold out

Monday 24 January 2022 10:17 , Alistair Charlton

We said earlier about Argos having limited regional availability, but the retailer is now telling customers on Twitter that the PS5 disc and digital editions have both sold out again.

Currys hasn’t had any PS5 stock in 2022

Monday 24 January 2022 09:30 , Alistair Charlton

It isn’t the only retailer to have had no PS5 stock so far in 2022. But Currys regulars may well be more disappointed than most, given just how many PS5 restocks we saw through December. After just one restock in November, Currys had no fewer than eight PS5 console restocks last month, with the last landing on 28 December. There’s no word yet on when Currys will have more stock.

Is Smyths Toys due to have a restock soon?

Monday 24 January 2022 09:15 , Alistair Charlton

Smyths Toys used to be fairly open about when the next PS5 restock would arrive. But since the start of 2022 the Smyths website has been somewhat vague. Instead of saying consoles would land later in the current month, it just says “Expected in stock: TBC 2022”. As we said, vague.

Can you buy a PS5 directly from Sony?

Monday 24 January 2022 09:00 , Alistair Charlton

Sony’s own PlayStation Direct website opened its virtual doors to UK customers in late-2021 and has several console restocks since. But currently none are available. We saw four restocks during the first half of December, then a month of no consoles before the most recent restock happened on 17 January. There’s no indication of when the next round of consoles will land, but hopefully Sony will treat us to plenty of stock, like it did in November and December, when that shipment finally arrives.

Is the PS5 available at Argos today?

Monday 24 January 2022 08:40 , Alistair Charlton

This isn’t as easy to answer as it should be. Owning to the unique way Argos chooses to operate online, products claimed to be in stock aren’t always available in every region of the UK. This makes sense when checking in-store stock locally, but the same system is used for stock available for home delivery. Currently, while the Argos website says both the disc and digital editions of PS5 are available, we’re struggling to find availability in any postcodes we know. Sorry Mum, no PS5 for you today.

Have you managed to bag a PS5 from Argos today? Let us know on social media and we’ll spread the good word.
